The Monastery Gallery of Art is featuring the work of women living in Ukraine and the United States in an exhibit entitled, ‘Ukrainian Art: Multimedia Across Generations.’ The exhibit features a combination of contemporary paintings, traditional textiles of linen and fine embroidery. Beaded jewelry and whimsical crocheted dolls and animals as well as Baba Yaga folk dolls.
The exhibit runs until January 6. A reception will be November 17, 2023, from 5:30 -7:00 pm. Many additional items including ornaments and painted glass items will be for sale.
The exhibit is a combination of work depicting life then and now in Ukraine. It is an example of the determination of women working in a war-torn country and the women artists of Ukrainian heritage who live in the US and are making art in solidarity with their ‘sister’ artists.
The Monastery Gallery of Art is located on the campus of Holy Family Retreat Center, 303 Tunxis Rd, West Hartford, CT. for more information call Kathy at 860 841-349
